Jean-Paul BETBEZE
University Professor of Economic Sciences (em.)
Jean-Paul Betbeze is an economist. He graduated from HEC Paris (1972) and obtained a doctorate in economics (1979). He is Agrégé des facultés de sciences économiques since 1983. After a first position at the University of Franche-Comté until 1987, he joined the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas).
In 1989, Jean-Paul Betbeze entered the corporate world and became chief economist of Crédit Lyonnais. Following the absorption of Le Lyonnais by Crédit Agricole (2003), he became Chief Economist, Director of Economic Research and member of the Executive Committee of Crédit Agricole SA. He was a member of the Conseil d'Analyse Economique, reporting to the Prime Minister, for eight years and a member of the Comité Économique de la Nation, reporting to the Minister of the Economy and Finance, for many years. In 2013, with Joselyne, his spouse, he founded Betbeze Conseil SAS and became Economic Advisor to Deloitte.
He is a member of the Cercle des économistes and the Scientific Committee of the Robert Schuman Foundation.
His most recent books are : États-Unis, Chine, Europe : quelle remondialisation ? (FPI-Ginkgo, 2020), 7th edition of « Les 100 mots de l’économie » (PUF, coll. Que sais-je ?, 2019), Entre Chine et France : des routes de toutes les couleurs (FPI-Ginkgo, 2018, trad. in mandarin and in English), La France, Malade imaginaire ?
